Ready to Upgrade from SharePoint 2010? We're Here to Help!

The deadline for the end of extended support for SharePoint 2010 is April 13, 2021. We highly recommend that KnowledgeLake clients using SharePoint 2010 or older begin their migration as soon as possible.

This will help your organization avoid increased costs associated with maintaining SharePoint 2010 after this date. After April 13, 2021, organizations remaining on SharePoint 2010 or older can expect to pay high fees for maintenance and increased security measures.

We understand that, for many of our clients on SharePoint 2010 or older, migrating documents from a repository your organization is already familiar with to the cloud can be daunting. But we are here to help!

Why the Cloud?

In our experience with current clients that have migrated from SharePoint to the cloud, the benefits of cloud adoption for their organization have far outweighed the cost and effort often associated with a migration. Some of the main benefits of storing your organization’s content in the cloud include:

  • Remote accessibility to content
  • Quick implementation and user adoption
  • Enhanced security
  • No software upgrades

Regardless of where you want to migrate your content (SharePoint Online, Azure, etc.), the KnowledgeLake Cloud is completely integrated. Speaking of which, your organization has several choices when it comes to migrating your content to the cloud. The repository you choose will depend on a number of factors that will vary based on your organization's unique needs. We'll cover that in the section below.

Where Should I Migrate My Content?

When you decide to migrate your content from SharePoint to the cloud, you’ll need to choose a repository. That could be SharePoint Online, Azure, or a hybrid cloud. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to choosing a repository, and it's important to carefully evaluate your organization's options to get the most out of your cloud deployment. If you need guidance, our experts will work with you to discuss your needs and help you choose the best repository for your organization. Keep reading for the cloud repositories we recommend as well as factors to consider about each:

SharePoint Online

  • For those who want to get the most out of their existing Microsoft/Office 365 investment while leveraging the cloud, SharePoint Online can be a no-brainer. If you’re trying to choose between SharePoint Online and Azure, be sure to consult our eBook.

Azure

Hybrid Cloud

  • Your organization's data is stored securely on your on-premises server, and your data and applications are shared between the on-premises server and the cloud.
  • Ideal for organizations that have sensitive data that needs to be kept highly secure but that also want to leverage certain benefits of the cloud (e.g. flexibility, scalability, and cost efficiencies)
