KnowledgeLake Blog Volunteers With a Vision: A #KLCares Update

On a mission to give back to our local community, KnowledgeLake created the #KLCares (KnowledgeLake Cares) corporate initiative during the fall of 2016. With the intention to gather the KnowledgeLake team (also affectionately known as “K-Lakers”) together to volunteer, we have sought to positively impact the world through our community outreach efforts. Since the program began, we have participated in several volunteering opportunities.

#KLCares About Great Circle

#KLCares UpdateThis past winter, K-Lakers could participate in three separate opportunities to celebrate the holiday season. First, a group of K-Lakers visited a local crisis nursery to serve children breakfast and play. Then, we reached out to Great Circle and local elementary schools to ask about necessities for the children.
#KLCares Update
Great Circle is an amazing organization that opens new doors and fresh pathways to children and families tackling some of life’s toughest challenges. With multiple campuses, counseling centers, as well as home and community-based services statewide, Great Circle has positively impacted thousands of lives last year alone.

When we asked how we could help the children Great Circle serves, the organization gave us the wish lists of a number of kids they support. K-Lakers could choose a child’s list and either donate or shop for the items these kids requested. Due to the generosity of the KnowledgeLake team, each child had gifts to unwrap during the holiday season.

We also created a social media campaign to raise money for Great Circle based on the amount of LinkedIn followers we could obtain in the month of December.

KL Collects School Supplies

When we asked local schools for needed supplies, they were happy to send us lists. As a team, K-Lakers went to work collecting items to donate. At the end of the project, the box for the school supplies was overloaded with necessary items.

Serving our Veterans

Now we’re gearing up to volunteer for our next initiative. On April 23, we will host a cook-out and play bingo with all the veterans and their families staying at the VA St. Louis Fisher House. The non-profit organization was established to provide “a home away from home” to the families and caregivers of our military men and women during their time of need. The suites serve as a “home away from home” for families of Veterans receiving care at the St. Louis VA Medical Center and families of active duty personnel who have loved ones in other area facilities.

We love our community in St. Louis, so giving back every season is a no-brainer. Follow us on Twitter to watch our community outreach in action every season!
