Capture Server

Powerful server-based batch management capabilities for your KnowledgeLake solution.  Easy and cost-effective methods to scan and save documents to SharePoint using office copiers, multi-function devices, fax servers, and network scanners.

 Overview

Want to add powerful server based batch management capabilities to KnowledgeLake Connect and KnowledgeLake Capture? With KnowledgeLake Capture Server, it’s easy to scan and save documents to Microsoft® SharePoint® using office copiers, multi-function devices, fax servers and network scanners. What’s more, a server based process path enables flexible document manipulation such as web based indexing, OCR and document conversion prior to release to SharePoint.

You can centrally administer and monitor office scanning using a decentralized scanning function with a zero-touch install in branch offices. Client applications are immediately freed for additional capture activities while the server processes released documents. This makes KnowledgeLake Capture Server a powerful yet cost effective way to add SharePoint scanning capability to any network capture device.

The Web Capture interface also enables ad-hoc scanning of new documents without installing anything on the local machine. Web Capture supports a variety of file types including: TIFF, PDF, JPG, BMP, and PNG.

In addition to this ability, Web Capture enables you to reconstruct a batch, mark documents for rescan, annotate documents and perform ad-hoc scanning directly from your workstation.

The end user simply navigates to the appropriate URL and will see a real-time display of actives batches waiting to be indexed and released to SharePoint. Using KnowledgeLake Web Capture, the knowledge worker can scan and index document batches from any PC with a Web connection.

 MFP Scanning

Increase enterprise-wide business productivity in a multi-office organization using
KnowledgeLake and SharePoint for MFP scanning.

Using multifunction peripherals for distributed scanning has several challenges:

  • Ad-hoc scanning is not batch oriented and provides no index automation; the documents must be scanned and processed one at a time.
  • Documents need to be manually uploaded and routed to the proper SharePoint location.
  • Due to the vast array of MFP operating systems and configurations, proprietary software can often only work with specific MFP devices. Adding additional/different multifunction peripherals later could result in incompatibility or worse, a complete platform change.

KnowledgeLake provides a solution that overcomes these challenges:

  • Batches of documents are on-ramped directly into SharePoint using any MFP, fax server or network scanner.
  • Instead of manual processing, the KnowledgeLake MFP Solution can utilize separator sheets during scanning to identify document types and route them to the correct location.
  • KnowledgeLake provides administration and monitoring of branch office scanning using a web-based solution.
  • After scanning, documents can be viewed and indexed via a browser at the user’s desktop or a remote office location, and then released into SharePoint.
